Learning about Production Process.
Todays Blog I will be writing about Production Process and what I have learned from todays video task.
In my opinion Design Thinking to me is a process in which we think to create the likes of a documentary/film and how we have steps to follow in order to achieve our goals.
Its important to be aware of design thinking because there are many different elements of thought process that you have to consider, for example your target audience and how to satisfy them, its not something you can do overnight.
I think you should apply design thinking to many things like documentary's, movies, news, even YouTube videos, because for each one you need to have a plan in place in order to succeed. You need to apply a good amount of time in order to have plenty of content for even the likes of a five minute video. Each stage must be considered which they spoke about in the previous videos, Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Testing. Without the likes of these stages your video has a higher chance of failing because you were not organized for the task.
There are three stages of Traditional production process that include, pre-production, production(shooting), and post-production. Each stage is very important in creating a movie/film. In pre-production you must decide a list of things like casting, location, the budget, props, costumes and mainly the writing. I think if you don't have a script wrote how can you cast? To me it would be very important that person fits both the name and the type of character they would play.
The second stage is producing the film itself. Each phase is very important but with this phase you must make sure to keep on budget and communicate with all involved because after all communication is key. Another phase within the production is Principal Photography this is when the camera is rolling. It is also known to be the most expensive part as you have salaries to pay and certain shots may be costly.
Finally the third stage is Post Production this is when you bring in your editing skills/people. Its about the amount of shots after being taken and mistakes that would have been made that have to be cut. More activities along with this phase include visual effects, colour corrector and sounds. This process could take a few months to a few years depending.
I think the best video I watched was "4 Easy Steps to Film a Documentary" by Griffin Hammond, because I thought his way of explaining was easy to grasp, and he both showed us and told us how the 4stages work which made it very interesting. I think his discussion on these topics will be most useful to me and my group when completing our project together. I think we will take skills and notes from him and really bring our project together.
After I watched all the videos, I think its unlikely I will be using voiceover within the group project however this is my own opinion because I hate how my voice sounds on video, but if somebody in the group wants to I would not stop them.
